working with the Holy Spirit for the common goal of
following Jesus and freely giving of our time, talent and
treasure to support our parish and community. The committee

What
is stewardship?
Stewardship is a way of life that starts with the conscious
decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
True disciples understand that all of the blessings
in life come from God and are grateful for what they have
received. Stewards
choose to live as good caretakers of God’s gifts and they
make a continual effort to share these gifts of time,
talent, and treasure with others.
The rewards of stewardship are contentment, peace and
a sense of justice.
What is the theological basis for stewardship?
Stewardship is Scripture based.
All of the teachings of stewardship come directly
from the Gospels, the Old Testament and the letters of the
New Testament. Stewardship
is not a fad. Stewardship
is the way God has expected His people to live since the
beginning of time. Several
Biblical examples follow:
-
“No one shall appear before the Lord
empty-handed, but each of you with as much as he can
give, in proportion to the blessings which the Lord, God
has bestowed on you.” Deuteronomy
16: 10, 16-17
-
“Each must do as already determined,
without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful
giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
-
"As each one
has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good
stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:8-10
-
“Tell them to do good, to be rich in good
works, to be generous, ready to share.” 1
Timothy 6:17-19
What does a stewardship parish look like?
A stewardship parish
- has vibrant spiritual, educational,
social, and outreach activities which encourage
parishioner participation.
- reaches
out to the broader community as brothers and sisters in
Christ.
And parishioners
who:
-
have made
the decision to be disciples of Christ
-
recognize
and understand God’s call to be good stewards of all
God’s gifts
-
Prayerfully and
honestly assess the value of these gifts and share a
proportionate amount of their time, talent, and treasure
How can I become a good steward at St. Peter?
Please take the following steps in your journey toward
Christian discipleship:
1. Spend time in daily prayer.
Developing a close personal relationship with God is
an important step to becoming a Catholic Steward.
2. Commit to working in one or more
of the many ministries doing good work at St. Peter and/ or
in the Diocese of Palm Beach.
Please see the Ministry listed on this website for
descriptions of the ministry opportunities available and a
discernment tool to help you find the right ministry to fit
your skills, desires and life situation.
3. Give generously and regularly to
ongoing programs and capital needs at St. Peter and to the
Diocesan Services Appeal.
What is at the core of a stewardship parish?
The stewardship way of life has its center and source of
strength in the Eucharist.
