Confirmation establishes you in your
faith because through the sacrament, God works in your soul in
a very deliberate and radical way. It is no longer your parents
church that you attend. It is YOUR church!!! In this Sacrament
you get the chance to confirm to the whole church all of your
beliefs. You are an adult in the church.
Confirmation
preparation is a two year
process in accordance with the guidelines for the Diocese of Palm
Beach. Candidates in Confirmation I must be at least an 8th grade
student, a registered member of our parish and must have received
the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, and commit to
practice his/her faith. The Confirmation program is incorporated
into the LIFETEEN Youth Ministry, which is a comprehensive youth
ministry program with a strong focus on the Eucharist. It begins
with class time, followed by participation in the LIFETEEN Mass,
placing the teens in an environment where they have the opportunity
to experience fully the greatest gift we have as the Church. The
teens begin to develop a relationship with Jesus that is both
personal and real, which allows them to take ownership of their
faith.
In Confirmation
II, immediately following the Mass, teens gather for dinner and
for the LIFE Night to learn about the Church and their faith in
challenging ways, including catechesis, community service, socials,
retreats and educational topics. It includes a dynamic weekend
Confirmation Retreat.
As you enter
into this sacrament, pray for the grace to truly live your faith,
to establish a closer bond with God, and to be set on fire for
Christ.
The LIFETEEN Youth
Ministry includes and is supported by an adult Core
Team who assist in the planning and implementation
of LIFE Nights, fund raisers, retreats and as Confirmation
Catechists. They devote their time and energy by being
present to the needs of teens in a loving and giving
way.
The Core Team is a
group of highly dedicated adults who demonstrate a
personal commitment to Jesus Christ, an unconditional
love for teenagers, a love for the Catholic Church,
regular participation in Sunday worship, a personal
prayer life, and an openness to using the gifts of
the Holy Spirit.
Core members are an
intertwining link with the priest, the youth minister
and the young community which they serve.
Our
grades 6-8 ministry, known as EDGE, is a dynamic middle
school youth ministry program designed to meet the
education, spiritual, and social needs of 6th,
7th, and 8th grade middle
school youth by creating an environment where the
youth are part of a community. The ministry
provides an opportunity to grow in faith by developing
a meaningful relationship with Jesus through Liturgy,
EDGE Nights, community service and social activities.
The goals of EDGE are:
to foster a transforming
spiritual experience of Jesus which
allows early adolescents to know the Word of God
and the Eucharist in a deeper and more profound
way
to create a positive experience
of the Catholic Church for adolescents
to assist middle school youth in
learning and appreciating what the Catholic Church
teaches and believes
to incorporate the Catholic Church’s
vision of social justice and peace to the spiritual
life of pre-adolescents
to develop a knowledge in middle
school youth that they are a vital and visual
presence within the parish community
The
Kitchen Krew is established our of a need to provide a "practical"
hospitality of food to the LIFETEEN Community. It is a great
opportunity to meet other parents and to develop a deeper
relationship with them through Christ.
The Kitchen
Krew is both challenging and rewarding. Those who serve
accept Christ's challenge in the gospel to "feed His
lambs". The rewards of accepting that challenge can
only be appreciated by experiencing it.
The
LIFE TEEN Youth Ministry is a comprehensive youth ministry with
a strong focus on the Eucharist.
Starting with a weekly LIFE TEEN Mass, high school teens are placed
in an environment that presents the Mass to them with vitality
and in such a manner that it is inviting, joyful, and prayerful.
The congregation gathers at 5:00pm to greet one another.
This is an important aspect of the LIFE TEEN Mass. At 5:30pm
Mass begins.
The liturgical model is to GATHER (welcome), PROCLAIM (the message
of the gospel), BREAK (share), and SEND (make the message a reality
by offering concrete ways to live it out in today’s world).
Music plays a vital role in enhancing the powerful and prayerful
mode of this liturgy, since music is such an integral part of
a teen’s life.
It is the belief of the LIFE TEEN ministry that a teen’s journey
into a relationship with Jesus Christ is transformed into one
that is personal and real.
Teens will have an integral part in the planning and participating
in the liturgy. However, the whole parish community is encouraged
to come together with the young people for the sole purpose of
giving thanks and praise to God.
All high school age teens are invited to gather to share dinner
in the parish hall at 6:30pm. Immediately following dinner,
teens are invited to the LIFE Night which is a combination of
education/socials. These include scripture, doctrine, issue
nights and social functions. Registration for LIFE TEEN
is not required because teens come because they want to come.
If that sounds interesting-even amazing-teens please join us!
Peer
Ministry is an integral part of the LIFETEEN Youth Ministry
at St. Peter Parish. It is a wonderful addition to the already
vibrant Youth Ministry, which was started in 2003.
Each
year approximately 12 members of the Youth Ministry are
invited to become a peer minister, i.e. teens ministering
to teens. These teens are a great role model of what a Catholic
teen should be. These teens, are empowered in a meaningful
way, to implement leadership techniques and blend them with
spirituality they exemplify everyday.
Members
of the Peer Ministry "lead by example". Although
not always a popular notion, they are wiling to "step
up" and lead others to do the right thing. IN addition
to active participation in the LIFETEEN Mass, they serve
in Liturgical ministry such as Welcome Ministers, Lectors,
Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Ushers, etc.
The Peer
Ministers commit to attending LIFE Nights, help with Vacation
Bible School & Music Camp.
Franciscan
University of Steubenville exists to evangelize youth primarily
through large conferences. These events are all aimed at
awakening the gift of faith in Jesus Christ. The conference
combines awesome talks, incredible music, praise & worship,
time for prayer and fellowship, entertainment and liturgies.
It is a weekend to get rocked by God, to get serious about
life in Christ and the Church and to learn the truth of
the Gospel. At the heart of the conference weekend are the
Sacraments through which youth can experience the Father's
loving mercy, forgiveness and healing compassion. This experience
will enable them to respond to the mission of carrying Christ's
love to the world. It is open to teens in grades 9-12.
XLT
(exalt) is a night where parishioners from different parishes
come together for an intense night of prayer and worship, which
is divided into three parts:
PRAISE &
WORSHIP :: TEACHING
:: ADORATION
The evening takes
place from 7:00pm-8:00pm in the Church. St. Peter Parish hosts
this event every other month. Check our upcoming
events page for the next date. Everyone is welcome
– please bring the entire family.
